“He was always physically gifted, but what strikes me about Jeremiah is how humble he has always been, despite those obvious physical gifts. The other attribute that I noticed is his leadership ability. He never gets flustered when things are going badly in a game. He stays focused through tense situations and this enables his teammates to stay focused and calm.”

Robert Chan
Attorney; Masoli’s former Asian Pacific Islander Basketball League Coach

“ Having played with 3 NFL Hall of Fame quarterbacks (Warren Moon, Joe Montana and Steve Young) and current Kansas coach, Turner Gill, as a tight end, I’m offering this letter of support for Jeremiah Masoli. He is a young man I’ve known prior to and after his senior year at Junipero Serra High School in San Mateo, CA in 2006. I’ve spent valuable time with Jeremiah to teach him the responsibilities of being a student-athlete. During this process I witnessed his tremendous work ethic and focus when completing a variety of tasks, including community service.

“Combining his social background with the dynamic and demanding environment of college, I am not surprised that Jeremiah encountered off-the-field problems while attending the University of Oregon. Often, talented and culturally diverse kids don’t realize how much of a “target” they are in social settings, especially if alcohol and/or drugs are involved. At the end of the day, Jeremiah is a victim of his own ignorance and lack of personal judgment. His mistakes have been foolish, not malicious. However, Jeremiah still possesses strong character and leadership ability.

“After speaking with him regarding the future, his remorse and humility is clear and constant. I think Jeremiah truly realizes the magnitude of his failings and that God may have left him one year of eligibility for a reason beyond anyone’s comprehension at this point.

Dr. Jamie Williams
Athletic Director at Academy Art University

“I am…a great believer in redemption and learning from your mistakes…this young man has worked hard academically, proven himself on the field of sports, and is attempting to rescue his life and reputation after admitting to some failings. I believe that the University of Mississippi and Coach Nutt will provide the kind of discipline and training that will continue to rehabilitate this young man.”

Mike Moore
Former Attorney General of Mississippi

“I commend Jeremiah for not letting his head down and want him to know that this can be a new beginning to a very bright future. I believe that I can speak for the rest of the Samoan community in saying that we have high hopes and expect great things from him, on and off the field”

Eni F.H. Faleomavaega
Congressman of American Samoa
